Ibn ‘Umar – radiyallaahu ‘anhu – said:

“We used to make preference between the people during the time of the Prophet – sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. So we preferred Aboo Bakr, then ‘Umar bin Al-Khattaab, then ‘Uthmaan bin ‘Affaan.”
